MakerStudio New User Group Orientation

HMMPL card holders have the opportunity to use the new MakerStudio! The MakerStudio will give patrons access to technology that enables them to design, explore, and create.

During the orientation we will go through the New User Orientation using the Niche Academy website (requested to complete before the meeting) and then tour the new equipment in our makerspace, the MakerStudio. Please bring a laptop. If you do not have one, we will check out a laptop we have at the library using your library card. This orientation will last up to an hour. We may have time to complete a small project during this session.
  • This space is an attended space and must have a staff member present for any use.
  • Patrons aged 13 and under may use the MakerStudio if supervised by a parent or guardian (that has completed the orientation) at all times.
  • Fees for materials will be charged. These fees are subject to change. Please consult the fee schedule on our website for current rates. *No fees for workshops and training sessions.
  • Patrons must have a valid HMMPL library card to use the MakerStudio.
  • Patrons must receive mandatory safety and training certification before use of each tool or equipment.
Because of the high COVID numbers in our area we ask that you wear a mask.  If anyone is uncomfortable in a group we do have openings to meet one on one after you complete the New User Orientation online. Request access here or email MakerStudio@hmmpl.org. The orientation is required to move forward using the new room and equipment.

This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Indiana State Library and by a grant from The Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library.

Don't have time for a group session or the date does not fit your schedule?
The new User Orientation can also be done completely online then checked off during your first use of the room. Request Access to the online MakerStudio Orientation HERE. You will need  a HMMPL library card number to request a link to the MakerStudio Orientation on Niche Tutorial
