Event Details

Join guest speaker Tom Hubbard from the Indiana Astronomical Society for a special introduction to telescopes! Aspiring astronomers and stargazers are invited to learn how telescopes work, how to begin investing in a telescope that suits your needs, and essential tips for beginners.

Tom Hubbard is a scientist by day and a stargazer by night. At the age of 12, his first telescope began his love affair with the sky. A Southern transplant to the Midwest for the past three decades, Tom has traveled to see anything from a total solar eclipse in rural Kentucky to the darkest heavens of mountainous West Virginia. He shares his life with his wife Rebecca (who nearly failed astronomy class) and their two adult sons, all of whom  have taken turns on his astronomy adventures over the years. Tom has the heart of a teacher and truly enjoys sharing his knowledge of any topic imaginable.
